Job Description:

Principal Accountabilities

● Responsible for the day-to-day functions of Logistics or Value Add department(s), ensuring goals are met or exceeded.

● Supervise day to day operation of a single department (receiving, storing, picking, shipping, special handling) within the distribution/value add center consisting of non-exempt tactical personnel.

● With specific direction from management and HR, participates in staffing, terminations, disciplinary counseling, performance management and development in conjunction with facility management. Typically will need to elevate complex issues.

● Report and track department metrics, responding to internal customer inquiries. May need to elevate or work in conjunction with facility management to resolve complex issues.

● Other duties as assigned.

Job Complexity

● Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business or technical support or production team

● Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion

● Receives guidance and oversight from manager

● Typically does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised

● Accountable for the results of small-sized routine support or production operations teams

● Solves problems based on set policies and procedures

● Trains team members and provides input to employee performance evaluations


  • Experienced with CompTIA A+ or equivalent computer hardware/software certification highly desired.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a warehousing environment;

  • Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory experience, overseeing 20 to 30 direct reports

  • Knowledge of PC, laptop, network, server, smart phone and peripheral components;

  • Tolerance for the physical demands of working in a warehouse (ability to stand, lift, bend and kneel for extended periods of time in an environment that is not climate controlled)

  • Working knowledge and experience with EHS/quality systems (ISO14001, ISO9001, OHSAS18001)

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports pertaining to the operation of the warehouse;

  • Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management and mentor those who report through the position

  • Must be comfortable working under productivity and quality standards

  • Must like working independently

  • Impeccable attendance is required (reliability)

  • Respectful and team contributor (cleanliness and communication)

  • Be available to work a flexible work schedule as needed

  • Ensures performance of department goals, including allocation of headcount and process improvements to analyze and improve efficiency

  • Experience responding to internal and external customer inquiries.

  • Must possess well developed leadership and organizational skills

  • Must be project oriented and have the ability to follow through on long term goals

  • Ability to excel in fast paced environment and a high degree of dependability and integrity

  • Working knowledge of material handling equipment

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean concepts, 5S

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience / Education

Typically requires a 4 year degree and 2–4 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
