Position:

Big Data Reporting Developer

Job Description:

Key responsibilities:

-ETL development from numerous source systems to HDFS

-Schema design, data structure selection, and implementation in HDFS

-Report design and development in Tableau

-Collaborate with business leaders and project managers to plan development and move prototypes to more advanced stages, up to and including production

-Develop a deep understanding of the relevant data, propose and pursue novel data sets and analyses, identify trends, and expose new business opportunities

-Participate in code, documentation, and workflow maintenance as needed

-Take part in infrastructure upkeep and maintenance

-Fulfill ad-hoc analyses and data requests for the marketing analytics team

-Strong technical contributor and a skilled quantitative thinker

-Able to easily transition from the theoretical to the concrete

-Demonstrated ability to learn while doing, and able to operate under conditions of uncertainty with minimal supervision

-Effective communicator

Education Requirements:

-BS or MS in engineering, bioinformatics, business analytics or similar

Required Experience:

-Min 1 year experience working with a distributed file system

-Min 1 year experience developing python and SQL scripts

-Exposure to data visualization concepts and tools

Required Skills:

-Expert knowledge of ETL development and validation paradigms

-Expert knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Python or Java

-Expert SQL development skills

-Skilled user of Linux and OS X command line interfaces

-Proven capacity to drive code to a released stage

-Proficient with VCS and JIRA

-Proficient with Tableau, Qlik Sense or another BI tool
