Overall Scope

  • Working as a part of a busy Supply Chain Operations department of 12 people, handling outbound Supply Chain Operations and Demand Planning for hundreds of high profile clients across a large portion of the EMEA geography.

  • The Customer Demand Planner will work within a team of 5 planners, handling the Northern Europe region and will be responsible for a subset of that region, owning the partner forecast element for their territory

  • The role is a key position, sitting neutrally between commercial and purchasing teams and working alongside the Supply Chain team to handle the customer forecast input we use to create a robust, accurate final Supply plan. Simultaneously the planner is striving for 100% service to customers and ensuring that the daily operational reality matches the Supply Chain concept for that customer and providing input for operational improvement where needed

Outline/Purpose of the role:

  • Handling electronically received partner forecast inputs, through system validations and exception management, to release a fully validated demand plan for Supply Planning review and undertaking further collaboration with Supply Planning and Sales teams before a final plan is agreed.

  • Develop company IP in relation to customer demand patterns providing differentiated services through factual and valuable customer feedback

  • Add value to customer forecast data and perform detailed validation of demand vs. supply, communicating and driving clearly defined actions to all key stakeholders (Supply Planning/Purchasing, Supply Chain Operations and commercial sales teams) to mitigate excess inventory, potential service issues and identify Supply Chain operational improvement opportunities.

  • Create a fully validated demand plan to drive confidence and efficiency in supply planning

  • Responsibility for providing 100% service levels to all customers within the organisation, being a Business Partner rather than just an internal service provider

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Proactive management of partner forecast frequency, prompting communication to the appropriate stakeholders when forecast is received out of the expected cycle

  • ERP Forecasting Attribute Set Up/Maintenance

  • Input into maintenance and fine tuning of system forecast parameters

  • Support to commercial teams in setup and maintenance of forecasting agreements

  • Reviewing forecast Holds and Exceptions in a timely & efficient manner and driving action from relevant stakeholders.

  • Review and action Oracle Demantra Forecast exceptions

  • Drive for customer compliance to forecast

  • Drive conversion of forecast to order, in the case of unplanned demand within lead-time

  • Allow forecasts into the supply plan in line with company goals & objectives and customer contract terms

  • Owner of customer forecast accuracy & process

  • Participation in and providing input into commercial business reviews

  • Interpret customer demand changes to define clear actions for prevention of excess inventory before communicating with Supply Planning and Customer commercial teams to allow clean execution

  • Communicate potential service issues around forecast over consumption to Sales in a clear and timely manner

  • To create a robust audit trail through the use of an online workflow tool

  • Identify root cause to allow enforcement of customer liability and/or identify factors driving excess inventory to guarantee prevention

  • Maximise investment by becoming ‘expert’ in Demand/Supply Planning, utilising tools such as Oracle Demantra and Forecast Accuracy dashboard

  • Execute on closed loop activities;

The successful applicant:

  • Has a strong analytical mindset, a natural curiosity and is not afraid of data and complicated systems, with the ability to separate the trivial from the critical and not over analyse

  • Has experience working in ERP systems (Oracle would be an advantage) and preferably has experience of demand/forecast/material planning in a commodity/fast paced environment

  • Is a natural collaborator, with a strong track record in achieving their results through influencing others and who understands the challenges of cross functional working and has demonstrable experience in this area

  • Can adapt to change and deal with ambiguity and thrives in an environment where no 2 days are exactly the same, but can equally deal with structured routines and deadlines

  • Has experience of working in a multicultural environment and with people from different countries and mother tongues, who may be communicating in English as their 2nd or 3rd language

  • Can successfully balance the inventory/financial performance and commercial (sales) needs of the company and understands that tipping the balance either way is easy, but is adept at considering both equally.

  • Is highly organised and methodical and can cope with both predictable routines and ad-hoc activity

Experience/ Skills /Knowledge:


  • Educated to A Level equivalent or higher

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

  • Experience in ERP systems

  • Experience of forecasting/demand planning

  • General understanding of Supply Chain models and techniques

  • Microsoft Office suite with good Excel skills


  • Oracle ERP

  • 2nd European language skills

  • Experience of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) communication
