Logistics Services Supervisor
This position supports the Logistics Staff in directing the overall activities of the distribution center and interfaces with the supervisors of the other departments to ensure an efficient operation and maximum utilization of available human and material resources. Individual will maintain a high level of employee morale and integrity in the department through positive motivation, development and training. Maintain performance reports to include internal and external quality, weekly and monthly shift productivity. Evaluate operational procedures and present for consideration of improved methods.
Primary Role & Responsibilities: Supervise day to day operation of a single department (receiving, storing, picking, shipping, special handling) within the distribution/value add center consisting of non-exempt tactical personnel. Has basic understanding of the operation of the distribution/value add center and impact to the operation of Arrow's business. Has moderate knowledge on the operation of his/her own department, with a basic understating of how other departments operate. With specific direction from management and HR, participates in staffing, terminations, disciplinary counseling, performance management and development in conjunction with facility management. Typically will need to elevate complex issues. Report and track department metrics, responding to internal customer inquiries. May need to elevate or work in conjunction with facility management to resolve complex issues. Full supervisory responsibilities, leadership of people in all work activities. Provides training, allocates work, checks progress and completion, coach employees on performance and makes hiring and pay recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications: College degree in Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering or related or high school with technical training and equivalent experience. At least 2 years of related experience with college degree; 5-7 years related experience with high school diploma. Good understanding of procedure and concepts in own technical/subject area. Knowledge is obtained through job-related training and education or considerable on-the-job training. Good understanding of how the team integrates with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area (such as department or branch). May have broad responsibilities requiring business acumen beyond their own team. Depending on situation, may use defined process or procedure with supervision, however analytical though is needed to resolve issues in moderate to complex situation. Will confer with other supervisors/ employees/managers. Courtesy and tact as the exchange of ideas and information is a significant part of the job. Must be able to deliver tough messages and handle conflict (internal and external). Ability to handle multi-tasking. Ability to excel in fast paced environment. High degree of dependability and integrity. MS Office proficiency; WMS experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of material handling equipment. Six Sigma/Lean concepts. Ability to easily interpret and use statistics in day-to-day decision-making. Basic statistical modeling. Project management concepts/principles. Root Cause Analysis, Pareto and flow charts. Evaluating processes to optimize product handling, product flow and layouts. Basic production floor layout.
