Business Systems & Applications Manager

The successful candidate will work as part of the team dedicated to ensuring that we are maximizing efficiency and capitalizing on the full features and benefits of the system based on the various user group needs. We are seeking someone with excellent technical and communication skills who can interface directly with internal stakeholders to understand their needs in order to administer and enhance the system accordingly.
Duties include the looking after Arrow’s internal systems such as DC Control and SOA, the data integrators and interfaces between in-house systems that provides the following main functionalities:
Customer Partner portal
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Database administrator functions.
Performing system upgrades.
Performing overall maintenance.
Documentation of as-is system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide maintenance and operations support for IT applications
Responsible for maintaining, high availability, high performance enterprise application
Participate in planning, design, and development of a new applications
Create software updates to the existing design to meet the business, functional and non-functional requirements. Create/maintain design artefacts and documentation.
Design and develop applications to meet Application security requirements
Write and unit test code to implement the application design and deliver a high quality product
Implement good coding practices and standards.
Fix defects found during unit testing, system testing, integration testing, UAT and performance testing
Manage builds and software code branches and versions as part of a comprehensive configuration management framework
Provide operations support and troubleshoot production issues. Identify and implement technical solutions to fix production defects.
Provide support to resolve any production issues
Conduct and/or actively participate in meetings related to the multiple project/s, with clients and/or other contractors
Provide guidance to other development team members to develop secure, high availability applications
Share best practices, lessons learned and knowledge with the rest of the team
Identify implementation risks and analyse potential impacts on the enterprise and on the achievement of scheduled objectives
Must have working knowledge of Visual Basic (VB6) and have development skills in .NET and Java Script AND have three years of experience in at least two of the following disciplines:
Demonstrate excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of other development languages like C# and SQL is a plus.
Three years+ as a Developer
In-depth knowledge of Visual Basic (VB6) and have successfully built applications through the use of VB6 code and/or integration with external systems.
Previous re-engineering experience updating an existing VB6 application configuration to provide solutions for enhanced functions.
Detail oriented and self-starter with strong written and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
Minimum expectation of a Bachelors degree OR equivalent education/experience
Team player with positive “Can-do” attitude
Great communication skills with enthusiastic personality
Strong problem solving skills, data and software applications
Standard Hours Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Additional hours as needed.
